The goal of the
Alumni Committee
this year, besides
getting together and
remembering good
times, is to become
proactive in
providing tuition
assistance to
families who are
experiencing a
difficult time
keeping their
children in St. John
School.
Any money
raised by the Alumni
night will go toward
helping families
with tuition cost.
Parents are
having a difficult
time making the
sacrifice to send
their children to
our school and
enrollment is a
great concern for
all Catholic Schools
With the help of the
past St. John the
Evangelist can be
confident of the
future.
St. John the
Evangelist Catholic
School will
celebrate 136 years
of education in
February of 2010!

Alumni we have heard
from:
"Received a solid
foundation in
preparation for my
future education.
Graduated from CHS
1953 and Sacred
Heart School of
Nursing."
Patricia Collins
Brown
Years attended
1942-1949
"Thanks for thinking
of me. It's
been a long time
since 1946
graduating from St.
John 8th grade.
Always wondered what
happened to Dorothy
Edwards and Donald
Boston? I do visit
Sr. Mary Virginia
Patrick and Sr. Mary
Mark Walsh in
Baltimore, Md. Both
Sisters taught me in
the old building
1941-1946." Iggie
Magbuhat Jr.
Class of 1946
"My fondest memories
from St. John School
was daily Mass and
Fr. Peter
Cunningham's Irish
Ghost Stories."
James Joiner
Class of 1959
"My fondest memories
are of the friends I
made in my years at
St. John's. My Mom
still lives in
Pensacola and runs
into the other SJS
Moms of my time
there. I have
kept in contact
mostly with Syd
Jackson who has come
back to the school
to teach P.E.
I have great
memories of our
dances and school
parties- it was
always fun to be out
of uniform!"
Amy Waller Jasso
Years attended
1989-1998 |

"A special memory: Our 5th
grade class was having our
weekly square dancing
practice in the Royer Room
under the direction of Sr.
Brennan on November 22,
1963, the day President
Kennedy was shot. I
will never forget how the
fun and excitement quickly
turned into a very solemn
afternoon of prayer.
The next day one of the
student's parents brought a
black and white TV to class
and we were allowed to watch
some of the related news and
funeral over the next
several days. It was
the first time our class had
been able to watch TV in the
classroom."
Pam Thompson Clyde
years attended 1960-1968
"I cherish my times
at St. John's. It
was an amazing time
and I loved my
classmates. I am so
thankful for the
education I received
and always felt safe
and loved at St.
John's. Some of my
Favorite memories;
-
Kick-ball everyday
for P.E. for seven
years
-
Getting a shock if
you touched the milk
cooler and ice cream
cooler at the same
time
-
Kids passing out
from the incense
during the Stations
of the Cross
-
Kristen Majewski and
I trying to wear
white tube socks and
not get caught
-
Moving up to the
sixth grade and not
having to wear
jumpers anymore
-
Soy Bean burgers for
lunch
-
Standing in line for
confession and
everyone getting
there stories
straight
I would love to
reconnect with my
classmates. We all
started High School in
1984, so I guess that
was the same year we
graduated St. John's.
Please email me if you
have info on any of my
classmates. Kristen
Majewski, Steve Geri,
Marty M., Tony C.,
Rachel A., Paul C.,
Ashley W...please let me
know." Thanks
Jade Neal
1977 - 1984
